Senior Data Scientist

(Remote - London/Barcelona)

Overview

As a Senior Data Scientist you will play a leading role in the R&D team, driving innovation in the vLex product portfolio through advanced data science with a strong focus on LLMs. 

You will combine technical expertise, leadership and a deep understanding of how to apply data science to real problems in the legal information space to integrate cutting-edge solutions into our product offerings.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage data science projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
• Develop complex solutions and product prototypes using LLMs and other advanced techniques to solve critical challenges in the legal domain, with a focus on legal research applications.
• Mentor data scientists and junior data scientists in the team, guiding their professional development and continuous learning.
• Conduct research into new AI methodologies and technologies, applying your findings to drive innovation across our product portfolio.
• Work closely with our product and engineering teams to ensure the smooth transition of R&D prototypes into scalable, production-ready solutions.
• Engage with external stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into actionable research projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Masters-level degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related field
• At least three years experience working in a data science-focused role, with a strong emphasis on natural language processing and LLMs. 
• Hands-on experience working with information retrieval systems is highly desirable
• Experience of working within the legal sector is desirable but not essential
• Experience leading teams of data scientists across a diverse mixture of projects 
• Track record of successful R&D projects taken from concept to productisation  
• Skilled at conveying technical concepts and ideas to a diverse range of stakeholders.
