Data Scientist

( Remote - London/Barcelona)

Overview

As a Data Scientist in our R&D team you will apply advanced data science and NLP techniques to develop innovative legal research solutions. 

You will play a key role in our interdisciplinary team to translate complex legal information challenges into data-driven tools that can be integrated into the vLex product portfolio. 

Responsibilities:

• Work independently and with others in the R&D team to design, develop and refine prototypes, ensuring they align with project goals and can be transitioned to product-ready solutions by our product and engineering teams.
• Devise data-driven solutions to complex problems, with a particular focus on using large language models for information retrieval and other relevant tasks
• Keep abreast of the latest developments in LLMs and data science, contributing to the wider team’s innovation effort by sharing and exploring new research, techniques and methodologies.
• Assist in the management of the R&D codebase and datasets, ensuring high standards of data quality, privacy and security are maintained. 
• Engage directly with customers to deeply understand their needs and the problems they face, applying this insight to inform our R&D programme.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Masters-level degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related field
• Experience in a data science-focused role, with a strong emphasis on natural language processing and the application of LLMs 
• Experience of working within the legal sector is desirable but not essential
• Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Ability to convey technical concepts and ideas to a diverse range of stakeholders.
